City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide one-on-one and small-group academic tutoring in core subjects Support teachers during class with classroom management and engagement Build positive relationships with students to encourage attendance and persistence Track and report student progress and participation using provided tools Assist with school-wide initiatives, events, and after-school programs Collaborate with teammates, teachers, and school staff to support student success Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development sessions Model positive behavior and help foster an inclusive, respectful school climate Communicate regularly with supervisors about student needs and service activities Uphold AmeriCorps and City Year policies, professionalism, and service standards Tutoring and academic support Classroom management support Youth mentorship Basic data entry and progress tracking Communication (written and verbal) Time management and organization Collaboration and teamwork Conflict de-escalation basics Cultural competence and DEI awareness Basic technology skills (Google Suite/Microsoft Office) Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance Must be at least 18 years old by start date U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident (per AmeriCorps requirements) Able to pass background checks required by AmeriCorps and local school district Commitment to full-time AmeriCorps service term Experience working or volunteering with youth (preferred)5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
