As an Academic Tutor and Mentor with City Year in the Education, Training & E-Learning department, you’ll support student success in partner public schools. Working on a diverse AmeriCorps team, you’ll provide in-class academic support, small-group tutoring, and one-on-one mentoring to help students stay on track in core subjects. You’ll also help lead enrichment activities, support positive classroom culture, and collaborate with teachers. City Year offers ongoing training, leadership development, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in an inclusive, social justice–oriented environment. Provide in-class academic support in core subjects (e.g., math, English, reading) Offer small-group and one-on-one tutoring to students who need additional help Mentor students to build socio-emotional skills, confidence, and engagement Support teachers with classroom activities, routines, and positive culture Track and document student progress using basic data and reporting tools Assist with school-based programs, enrichment, and after-school activities Collaborate with a diverse AmeriCorps team to plan and deliver supports Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development Communicate regularly with school staff and City Year supervisors Model inclusive, equity-focused and service-oriented behavior Tutoring and academic support Classroom support techniques Youth mentoring Basic data tracking and documentation Lesson or activity facilitation Behavior management support Communication with students, teachers, and families Collaboration and teamwork Cultural competence and equity awareness Basic computer skills (email, documents, spreadsheets) Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k City Year AmeriCorps member eligibility Background check clearance Experience with K-12 students (preferred) Bilingual skills (preferred)5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
