As a Student Success Coach and Mentor with City Year, you will serve in a partner public school to provide daily academic and social-emotional support to students. Working on a diverse AmeriCorps team, you’ll tutor in core subjects, lead small-group interventions, support positive behavior, and help implement whole-school initiatives. You’ll collaborate with teachers, track student progress, and communicate with families. City Year offers robust training, coaching, and leadership development in a mission-driven, inclusive culture focused on educational equity and student success. Provide in-class and small-group tutoring in core academic subjects Coach students in social-emotional skills, behavior, and goal setting Build positive, consistent relationships with a caseload of students Support teachers during class through targeted student assistance Assist with attendance outreach and family communication, as appropriate Plan and facilitate enrichment or after-school activities and clubs Track and document student data and progress toward goals Collaborate with AmeriCorps teammates and school staff on service plans Support school-wide events, initiatives, and positive school climate efforts Participate in ongoing training, reflection, and leadership development Small-group instruction One-on-one academic tutoring Classroom support strategies Youth mentoring and coaching Basic data tracking and progress monitoring Behavior management and de-escalation Lesson and activity planning Communication with students, staff, and families Collaboration and teamwork in school settings Cultural competence and equity-focused practices Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k City Year AmeriCorps eligibility (U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident) Background check clearance Experience working with youth in educational or community settings (preferred) Training in tutoring or mentoring (preferred) Basic data and progress-monitoring familiarity (preferred)5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
