As an Academic Tutor and Mentor with City Year, you’ll serve full-time in a partner public school, providing individualized and small-group academic support in core subjects, reinforcing classroom instruction, and tracking student progress. You will build strong, caring relationships with students, coach social-emotional skills, and help create a positive, inclusive classroom environment. Working on a diverse AmeriCorps team, you’ll collaborate with teachers, participate in training and professional development, and support school-wide activities that promote student engagement and success. Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in core academic subjects Support classroom instruction under the guidance of the classroom teacher Monitor and track student academic and behavioral progress Build mentoring relationships and coach students’ social-emotional skills Assist with classroom management and creating an inclusive learning environment Communicate regularly with teachers and staff about student needs Support school-wide events, enrichment, and after-school activities Participate in ongoing training and professional development Use digital tools to document service activities and student data Collaborate with a diverse AmeriCorps team to achieve school goals Tutoring in reading and math Classroom support Student mentoring Behavior management support Progress monitoring and data entry Communication with teachers and staff Basic educational technology (e.g., Google Classroom, Zoom) Time management and organization Culturally responsive practices Collaboration and teamwork Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Eligibility to serve as an AmeriCorps member (U.S. citizen or legal resident) Background check clearance Experience working with youth preferred Basic computer literacy (online learning tools)5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386 read more
