As an Academic Tutor and Mentor with City Year in the Education, Training & E-Learning department, you’ll support students’ academic and personal growth in partnering public schools. Working on a diverse AmeriCorps team, you’ll provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, reinforce classroom instruction, and track student progress. You’ll also mentor students, lead enrichment and after-school activities, and foster a positive, inclusive climate. City Year offers robust training, coaching, and leadership development in a collaborative, social-justice-focused culture. Provide in-class, small-group, and one-on-one academic tutoring in core subjects Support teachers with classroom activities and reinforce instructional goals Mentor students to build social-emotional skills, confidence, and engagement Monitor and document student progress and attendance data Communicate regularly with school staff and City Year team members Help plan and lead enrichment, after-school, and service-learning activities Create an inclusive, supportive learning environment for diverse students Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development Collaborate with AmeriCorps teammates to address student and school needs Model professionalism, reliability, and commitment to social justice and equity K-12 tutoring in reading, writing, and math Classroom support and behavior management Student mentoring and youth engagement Data tracking and basic progress monitoring Lesson and activity preparation Basic educational technology and learning platforms Written and verbal communication Time management and organization Cultural competency and working with diverse populations Team collaboration in school settings Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k City Year AmeriCorps eligibility (U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident) Background check clearance to work in K-12 schools Experience working with youth in educational or mentoring settings (paid or volunteer) Basic training in tutoring or youth development (preferred)5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
