As an Academic Tutor and Mentor with City Year in the Educational Services industry, you will serve in K–12 public schools to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth. Working within the Education, Training & E-Learning department, you’ll provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring, mentoring, and classroom support. At City Year, a national nonprofit, you’ll join a diverse, collaborative, and inclusive team committed to social justice, leadership development, and personal growth, with opportunities for hands-on experience, coaching, and professional development while making a meaningful impact. Provide small-group and one-on-one academic tutoring in core subjects Support classroom instruction in partnership with teachers Mentor students to build social-emotional skills and positive mindsets Track and report student progress and engagement data Help plan and lead enrichment, after-school, or homework programs Communicate regularly with school staff and City Year teammates Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development Promote an inclusive, respectful, and supportive classroom climate Assist with school-wide events, family engagement, and service projects Model professionalism, leadership, and a strong service ethic Academic tutoring in reading and math Classroom support and management Youth mentoring and relationship building Data tracking and basic progress monitoring Lesson or activity planning support Communication with students, staff, and families Basic educational technology and learning platforms Time management and organization Collaboration and teamwork in school settings Cultural competence and working with diverse communities Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Bachelor’s degree preferred Prior tutoring or mentoring experience preferred Background check eligibility AmeriCorps eligibility requirements Experience working with youth in educational or community settings5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
