City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide in-class support and small-group tutoring in core subjects Mentor students to strengthen attendance, behavior, and academic engagement Assist teachers with classroom activities and behavior management Support and help lead after-school programs and enrichment activities Track and report student progress using established tools and systems Collaborate with a diverse AmeriCorps team and school staff on student support plans Foster an inclusive, positive school climate aligned with City Year values Participate in ongoing training, reflection, and professional development sessions Engage families and community partners when appropriate to support student success Model leadership, service, and a commitment to educational equity Youth mentoring Small-group and one-on-one tutoring Classroom support and behavior management Basic data tracking and documentation Communication (written and verbal) Collaboration and teamwork Time management and organization Cultural competence and inclusivity practices Basic technology skills (e.g., Google Suite, email) Facilitation of group activities or workshops Eligibility to serve as an AmeriCorps member Ability to pass background checks required by AmeriCorps and school district Proof of work authorization in the U.S.5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
