City Year seeks an Academic Tutor and Mentor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time, school-based role, you will provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in core subjects, reinforce classroom lessons, and help create a positive, engaging learning environment. Working on a diverse AmeriCorps team, you’ll build relationships with students, track progress, and collaborate closely with teachers. City Year offers training, professional development, and a collaborative, mission-driven culture centered on social justice and youth success. Provide one-on-one and small-group academic tutoring in core subjects Support students’ social-emotional growth through mentoring and relationship building Collaborate with teachers to reinforce classroom instruction and interventions Track and report student progress and attendance data Assist with classroom management and create a positive learning environment Participate in training, coaching, and professional development sessions Engage in team meetings and school-based service projects Communicate regularly with school staff and City Year leaders about student needs Tutoring and academic support Classroom support techniques Lesson reinforcement and small-group instruction Student mentoring and coaching Behavior management support Data tracking and progress monitoring Collaboration with teachers and school staff Basic educational technology tools Time management and organization Cultural competence and DEI awareness Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Teaching or tutoring experience (formal or informal) Experience working with youth in schools or community programs Background check eligibility AmeriCorps eligibility (if applicable)5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386 read more
