As an Academic Tutor and Mentor with City Year in the Educational Services industry, you will serve full-time in a partner school, providing daily academic tutoring, mentoring, and classroom support to help students succeed. Working within the Education, Training & E-Learning department, you’ll collaborate with teachers to reinforce lessons, track student progress, and lead small-group or one-on-one interventions. You’ll join a diverse AmeriCorps team in a collaborative, inclusive culture focused on social justice, leadership development, and personal growth, with ongoing professional development and coaching. Provide daily academic tutoring in core subjects to assigned students Offer mentoring and social-emotional support to help students stay engaged in school Collaborate with teachers to support lesson implementation and classroom management Lead or assist with small-group and one-on-one interventions Track attendance, behavior, and academic data to monitor student progress Communicate regularly with school staff and City Year team members Support after-school or enrichment programs as needed Model professionalism, leadership, and a growth mindset for students Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development Contribute to an inclusive, equity-focused school environment Academic tutoring in core K-12 subjects (reading, writing, math) Lesson reinforcement and small-group instruction Classroom support and basic classroom management Student data tracking and basic progress monitoring (spreadsheets, logs) Written and verbal communication with students and staff Basic educational technology (learning platforms, virtual tools) Time management and multitasking in a school setting Youth mentoring and relationship-building Cultural responsiveness in diverse school communities Collaborative teamwork in an education or nonprofit environment Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Prior experience with youth or tutoring (paid or volunteer) Background check eligibility to work in schools AmeriCorps eligibility (US citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident) Basic training in child safeguarding or willingness to complete Comfort working in diverse, urban school environments5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
