As an Academic Tutor and Mentor with City Year, you’ll serve full-time in a partner public school, providing academic support, mentoring, and positive role modeling to help students thrive. Working on a diverse team, you’ll lead small-group and one-on-one tutoring, support classroom instruction, monitor student progress, and run enrichment activities. You’ll also collaborate with teachers and school staff while receiving robust training, coaching, and professional development in education, leadership, and social-emotional learning, all within a mission-driven, inclusive culture focused on equity and student success. Provide one-on-one and small-group academic tutoring in core subjects Support classroom instruction and reinforce lesson objectives Build mentoring relationships that promote students’ social-emotional growth Track and report student progress and participation data Collaborate with teachers and school staff to identify student needs Help plan and facilitate after-school or enrichment programs Communicate regularly with teammates and supervisors on student outcomes Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development Promote an inclusive, safe, and respectful learning environment Support school-wide events and initiatives that foster student engagement Tutoring in math and literacy Classroom support Youth mentoring Behavior management Data tracking and basic reporting Communication (written and verbal) Collaboration and teamwork Basic educational technology (e.g., Google Classroom, MS Office) Time management and organization Cultural competency and working with diverse communities Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred Prior experience in tutoring, teaching, or youth development preferred AmeriCorps eligibility requirements (U.S. citizen or legal resident, background check) Training in youth development or education (preferred)5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
