City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide in-class support to teachers through tutoring, classroom management assistance, and small-group activities. Offer one-on-one and small-group academic support in subjects like math and English/language arts. Support students’ social-emotional development through relationship-building and mentoring. Assist with planning and leading after-school programs, clubs, and enrichment activities. Monitor and track student attendance, behavior, and academic progress using provided tools. Collaborate with a diverse team and school staff to plan interventions and student support strategies. Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development sessions. Engage families and community partners in student support activities when appropriate. Contribute to school-wide events and service projects that strengthen school climate.
