City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide academic support through one-on-one and small-group tutoring in core subjects Mentor students to build social-emotional skills, confidence, and engagement in school Support teachers with classroom activities and learning environments Track and report student progress using established tools and data systems Assist with attendance, behavior, and engagement initiatives Plan and participate in school-wide events and service projects Collaborate with a diverse team of AmeriCorps members and school staff Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development Communicate regularly with supervisors regarding progress and challenges Model positive behavior and commitment to equity and social justice Tutoring and academic support Youth mentorship Classroom management support Data entry and progress monitoring Basic educational technology use Communication (written and verbal) Team collaboration Time management and organization Cultural competence and working with diverse populations Basic conflict resolution Medical Insurance Eligibility to serve as an AmeriCorps member U.S. Citizen, National, or lawful permanent resident status (typical AmeriCorps requirement) Ability to pass background checks for work in schools5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
