City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide in-class support to teachers to reinforce instruction and maintain a positive learning environment Offer small-group and one-on-one academic tutoring in core subjects Mentor students to build social-emotional skills, confidence, and school engagement Track and report student progress using basic data and documentation tools Support positive behavior and school climate through relationship building and role modeling Communicate regularly with teachers, school staff, and teammates to coordinate student support Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development sessions Assist with school events, family engagement activities, and after-school programs as needed Youth mentoring Tutoring/academic support Classroom support techniques Basic data tracking and documentation Communication and interpersonal skills Team collaboration Behavior management and de-escalation basics Cultural competence and equity awareness Time management and reliability Basic computer and productivity software (e.g., email, spreadsheets) Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance Eligible to serve in AmeriCorps (U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident) Ability to pass background checks required for school-based service Commitment to full-time service for the program term Experience working or volunteering with youth (preferred)5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
