City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide in-class and after-school academic tutoring in core subjects Support teachers with classroom activities and student engagement Mentor students to build confidence, attendance, and social-emotional skills Monitor and document student progress and participation Collaborate with school staff and City Year team members on student support plans Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development Communicate regularly with supervisors about challenges and successes Model inclusive, respectful, and equity-focused behavior for students Assist with school-wide events and enrichment activities Use basic technology tools to track data and prepare materials Small-group instruction One-on-one tutoring Lesson reinforcement Classroom management support Student progress monitoring Data entry and tracking Basic educational technology Communication with teachers Mentoring and youth development Time management Background check eligibility as required by AmeriCorps and local school district Eligibility to serve as a City Year AmeriCorps member (citizenship/age requirements) Experience with tutoring, mentoring, or youth programs preferred5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
