City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide small-group and one-on-one academic tutoring in core subjects (e.g., math, reading, writing) Collaborate with classroom teachers to identify students’ needs and align support with lesson plans Monitor and document student progress, attendance, and engagement Mentor students to build confidence, study skills, and positive classroom behaviors Support classroom routines, transitions, and learning activities Assist with homework help, test preparation, and skill-building sessions Facilitate or support enrichment, after-school, or extended learning programs Communicate regularly with school staff and City Year team members about student goals Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development Model City Year values of equity, inclusion, and service within the school community K-12 tutoring and academic support Lesson reinforcement and study skills coaching Basic data tracking and progress monitoring Classroom support and behavior management Youth mentoring and relationship building Written and verbal communication Organization and time management Basic educational technology and e-learning tools Collaboration with teachers and school staff Cultural competency and working with diverse student populations Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Experience working with K-12 youth (tutoring, mentoring, after-school programs) Background check and clearance to work in schools AmeriCorps eligibility (if applicable to program) Basic training in classroom management (can be obtained on the job) Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
