City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring in core subjects during and after school Support classroom instruction and reinforce teacher-led lessons Mentor students to build social-emotional skills and encourage engagement Track and document student progress and participation Assist with planning and leading school-wide initiatives and events Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and fellow AmeriCorps members Communicate with families and caregivers to support student success Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development Model positive behavior and uphold a safe, inclusive school climate Support attendance initiatives and interventions for students Tutoring and academic support (reading and math) Classroom support and behavior management Youth mentoring and relationship-building Data entry and basic progress monitoring Written and verbal communication Team collaboration in diverse groups Time management and reliability Basic conflict resolution skills Cultural competency and equity-focused practice Basic computer skills (email, documents, spreadsheets) Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance Eligibility to serve as an AmeriCorps member Ability to pass background checks required by AmeriCorps and school district Proof of citizenship or legal permanent resident status TB test or other school-required clearances (where applicable)5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386 read more
