City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects to K-12 students Support classroom teachers with lesson reinforcement and academic interventions Track and report student progress using established tools and data systems Serve as a positive mentor and role model, fostering students’ social-emotional growth Collaborate with a diverse AmeriCorps team to plan and deliver student supports Participate in training, coaching, and professional development activities Engage families and school staff to support student success when appropriate Promote an inclusive, respectful, and equity-focused learning environment Academic tutoring (math/ELA) Lesson reinforcement Classroom management support Student progress monitoring Data entry and reporting Small-group instruction Behavioral support techniques Use of educational technology Collaboration with teachers Basic mentoring and coaching Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required (or equivalent experience in education, youth development, or community service) Experience working or volunteering with K-12 youth is strongly preferred Commitment to national service and meeting AmeriCorps eligibility criteria (e.g., citizenship, background check) Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to collaborate on diverse teams and build rapport with students and school staff5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
