City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide daily in-school academic tutoring in core subjects to assigned students Support teachers with small-group instruction and classroom activities Monitor student progress and document academic and engagement data Build positive, mentoring relationships that foster students’ social-emotional growth Collaborate with City Year teammates and school staff to plan interventions Participate in training, coaching, and professional development sessions Communicate regularly with staff about student progress and needs Model positive behavior, attendance, and school engagement for students Support school-wide events, activities, and family engagement efforts Uphold City Year’s values of equity, inclusion, and social justice in all work Tutoring K-12 students Lesson planning support Academic intervention strategies Data tracking and progress monitoring Classroom management support Literacy instruction support Math instruction support Behavior management techniques Use of educational technology Professional written and verbal communication Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent experience) Eligibility to serve as an AmeriCorps member (U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident) Ability to pass required background checks Experience working with youth or in schools preferred Commitment to a full-time service term with City Year5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
