City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide in-class support through tutoring, classroom management assistance, and academic interventions Deliver small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects such as math and English Monitor student attendance and engagement, encouraging consistent school participation Support students’ social-emotional skill development and positive behavior Plan and lead after-school or extended learning time activities and clubs Assist teachers with lesson implementation and classroom preparation Participate in school-wide events, family engagement activities, and service projects Collect and track student data to inform interventions and measure progress Attend all City Year trainings, coaching sessions, and team meetings Model City Year’s values and contribute to an inclusive, collaborative team culture Youth tutoring and academic support Classroom management support Basic data entry and progress monitoring Lesson and activity planning Communication with students, teachers, and families Time management and organization Conflict resolution and de-escalation basics Cultural humility and working with diverse communities Facilitation of groups and activities Basic computer literacy (email, documents, spreadsheets) Medical Insurance Eligibility to serve in AmeriCorps (U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident) Ability to pass background checks required by AmeriCorps and school district Completion of City Year pre-service training Commitment to full-time service term (typically 10–11 months)5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
