City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide one-on-one and small-group academic tutoring in core subjects Support teachers with classroom management and positive behavior strategies Track and monitor student attendance, engagement, and progress Build mentoring relationships with students to support social-emotional growth Assist with planning and leading after-school or enrichment activities Collaborate with school staff and teammates to support whole-school initiatives Communicate regularly with students’ teachers and City Year staff about progress Participate in ongoing training, reflection, and leadership development sessions Support family engagement events and school community activities Uphold City Year’s values, service standards, and AmeriCorps member requirements Tutoring and academic support in reading and math Classroom management support Youth mentoring and relationship-building Basic data tracking and progress monitoring Communication and interpersonal skills Team collaboration Cultural competency and DEI awareness Time management and reliability Conflict resolution and de-escalation Facilitation of groups and activities Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Eligibility to serve in AmeriCorps (U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident) Ability to pass background and criminal history checks Proof of high school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred Commitment to a full-time AmeriCorps service term TB test or health clearance if required by district5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
