City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide in-class support to teachers through academic assistance and classroom management Lead small-group and one-on-one tutoring sessions in core subjects Build positive, mentoring relationships with students to support attendance, behavior, and coursework Assist with implementing social-emotional learning activities Help plan and facilitate after-school or enrichment programs and events Track and document student progress and participation data Collaborate closely with teammates, school staff, and City Year leadership Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development sessions Support school-wide initiatives that improve school climate and student engagement Serve as a positive role model committed to equity and social justice Youth mentoring Tutoring/academic support Classroom management support Data tracking and documentation Communication (written and verbal) Collaboration and teamwork Time management and organization Basic computer literacy (e.g., Google Suite, MS Office) Conflict resolution and de-escalation Cultural competency and working with diverse populations Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident (per AmeriCorps requirements) Successfully pass background checks required for service in public schools Commitment to a full 10–12 month AmeriCorps service term Experience working or volunteering with youth (preferred) Bilingual skills (preferred)5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
