City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in core subjects to K-12 students Support teachers in the classroom and reinforce lesson objectives Track and report student progress using school and City Year tools Build positive, mentoring relationships that foster students’ social-emotional growth Collaborate with school staff and City Year team members to plan interventions Participate in training, coaching, and professional development sessions Communicate regularly with supervisors about student needs and progress Model professionalism, inclusivity, and commitment to social justice Tutoring in core subjects (math, English, science) Lesson planning and academic support Classroom management support Student progress monitoring and documentation Data-driven instruction Small-group and one-on-one instruction Basic educational technology (Google Workspace, LMS) Communication with teachers and school staff Mentoring and social-emotional coaching Time management and organization Background check eligibility for working with children Proof of high school diploma or higher (college enrollment or degree preferred) Prior tutoring, mentoring, or youth development experience strongly preferred AmeriCorps eligibility (if applicable to program structure) Basic proficiency with computers and educational technology tools5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
