City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide one-on-one and small-group academic tutoring in core subjects during and after school Support classroom instruction under the direction of the teacher Mentor students to build social-emotional skills, confidence, and engagement in learning Monitor, document, and report student progress toward academic and behavioral goals Assist with planning and leading after-school and enrichment activities Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and City Year teammates to align student supports Communicate with staff and families as directed to support students’ success Participate in City Year training, professional development, and leadership opportunities Model inclusive, culturally responsive, and equity-focused practices Contribute to a positive, collaborative school climate Academic tutoring in math and/or literacy Classroom support and management Student progress monitoring and data entry Lesson and activity planning support Youth mentoring and relationship-building Written and verbal communication Time management and organization Basic educational technology (Google Workspace, email, learning platforms) Culturally responsive and trauma-informed practices Collaboration in diverse teams Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k City Year AmeriCorps eligibility (U.S. citizen or legal resident, background check) Prior tutoring, mentoring, or youth development experience preferred Coursework in education, psychology, or related field a plus5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
