City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide daily academic tutoring and mentoring to K–12 students in small groups and one-on-one Support classroom instruction, reinforcing lessons in math, English, and other core subjects Track and report student progress using defined measures and school data tools Collaborate with teachers and school staff to align support with classroom goals Build strong, positive relationships that promote student engagement and social-emotional growth Participate in training, coaching, and team meetings to develop professional skills Engage families and community partners, as appropriate, to support student success Model City Year values of service, equity, and inclusion in all interactions Tutoring in core subjects (math, ELA) Academic intervention strategies Lesson planning & scaffolding Student assessment & progress monitoring Classroom management support Data entry & documentation Basic educational technology (Google Workspace, LMS) Cultural competency & DEI practices Family and teacher communication Time management & organization Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Prior tutoring, mentoring, or youth development experience (paid or volunteer) preferred Experience in K–12 school, after-school, or community programs a plus AmeriCorps eligibility requirements (if applicable to role) Background check clearance required by school district and City Year Bilingual skills in English and another language commonly spoken in the community a plus5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
