City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide daily academic tutoring and mentoring to K-12 students in core subjects Support classroom teachers with small-group instruction and behavior management Track and report student progress using established tools and data systems Build positive, inclusive relationships that encourage student engagement and confidence Collaborate with school staff and City Year teammates to plan interventions and enrichment Participate in ongoing training, feedback sessions, and professional development Communicate with families and school partners as directed to support student success K-12 tutoring Lesson planning Classroom management Academic mentoring Student assessment Data entry and tracking Educational technology (Google Classroom, Zoom) Communication (students, teachers, families) Time management Basic reporting and documentation Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required Experience working or volunteering with youth is strongly preferred Eligibility to serve as an AmeriCorps member (e.g., age and work authorization requirements) Background check required5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
