City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide individualized and small-group academic tutoring in core subjects Support classroom instruction and reinforce lesson objectives Monitor and document student progress toward academic goals Collaborate with teachers to identify student needs and interventions Serve as a positive mentor and role model for students Communicate with school staff regarding student engagement and attendance Support a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment Participate in training, coaching, and professional development Assist with school-day and after-school programs and activities Promote City Year’s mission of educational equity and student success Tutoring in core subjects (math, ELA) Lesson planning and scaffolding Student progress monitoring Classroom management support Data entry and academic tracking Use of online learning tools Small-group instruction Behavioral intervention strategies Professional written communication Collaboration with teachers and staff Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required Experience with youth development, tutoring, or mentoring preferred Eligibility to serve as an AmeriCorps member (including background check) Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion Strong written and verbal communication skills5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
