We are seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist (EHS Specialist) for our growing Camden, AR location.


The EHS Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing the Company’s environmental, health and safety (EH&S) programs to ensure compliance with applicable safety and environmental regulations, as well as requirements of the Department of Defense. In this role, you will also investigate accidents, analyze causes and recommend changes in procedures, practices, and methods to prevent recurrences.


This position will work under minimal supervision and requires technical expertise in an EH&S discipline, preferable Industrial Hygiene. As an EHS Specialist, you will contribute to the development of new practices, techniques and standards. Your expertise will be used to solve complex technical problems which often require the use of ingenuity and creativity. Often acts as a lead on projects. Industrial Hygiene experience desired.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each):

25% - Work with outside consultants performing periodic compliance audits; participates in reporting and compliance review processes with a variety of regulatory agencies.


25% - Provide support to EH&S projects, which would be considered critical or sensitive in nature (i.e. projects with major impact on company’s facilities, including liabilities and capital expenditures).


15% - Review implementation of EH&S methods, practices and procedures.


15% - Act as a lead or technical expert and direct, coordinate and review the work of a small group of staff involved in EH&S activities.


10% - Provide technical guidance to technical staff and/or other departments for all EH&S matters.


5% - Attend regular training in a variety of environmental, health and safety areas; take steps to maintain and obtain required and desirable certifications applicable to broad environmental, health and safety programs.


5% - Keep abreast of new EH&S methods and developments (including environmental, safety engineering and industrial hygiene) affecting the organization for the purpose of recommending changes.


Requires a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and nine (9) years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 


US Citizenship Only Required. Dual Citizenship does not meet job qualifications. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level.


Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience in Industrial Hygiene.
  • Certified Safety Professional and Certified Industrial Hygienist.
  • Advanced degree in an appropriate discipline.


Driver’s License Requirement:

Some positions may require possession of a valid driver’s license. Employees who drive on company business to carry out job-related duties must possess a valid driver’s license for the class of vehicle driven and meet automobile insurability requirements of the Company. Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds. Work may require the ability to operate material handling equipment (forklift, crane, hoist, man lift, etc.) in a safe manner. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels or with fume or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, etc. requiring the use of personal protective equipment such as face protection (safety glasses, goggles, face shield), foot protection (i.e. steel toed shoes, rubber boots, etc.), gloves, hard hat, shop coat and hearing protection. Some positions may require Respirator clearance up to and including the Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Level A clearance. Work requires the ability to change into or out of personal protective equipment when entering or exiting manufacturing, laboratory, or other areas. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations. Work duties may also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer and/or the ability to travel by air or auto. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary. This position may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
