PRIMARY CUSTOMERS, PARTNERS, AND TEAM: At Adventist University of Health Sciences (ADU) our primary customers are students, faculty and staff. Our partners are physicians, allied health clinicians and other employees of Employer. GENERAL SUMMARY: Assists students with developing effective study habits, use of appropriate learning resources and learning strategies to accelerate the students~ cognitive development. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Functions as peer tutor for professional program students KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED: None EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Must be a currently registered student at ADU Has received a grade of B or better in any course tutored All peer tutors complete a ten-hour certification as participating members of the National Tutoring Association. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED: Enrolled in AS or BS program (as above) LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED: ADU peer tutors are certified by the National Tutoring Association and adhere to the standards and guidelines for practice set forth by that organization. Non-licensed position. LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED: None PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Demonstrates behaviors at Adventist University of Health Sciences in harmony with the Four Words Nurture, Excellence, Spirituality and Stewardship. Tutors function at the discretion of the program coordinator in those courses considered appropriate: based on curriculum and facilitating both individual and group sessions. Sessions are held in the Student Success Center and designated classrooms.
