Overview

Corbins Electric is currently looking to add a Safety Director to our team. This individual will plan, implement, and coordinate all safety programs as well as administer programs that educate employees.  These programs will ensure compliance with all regulations issued by OSHA and other governmental agencies, as well as, all company policy/procedures. The Safety Director will be responsible for monitoring and mentoring on the job employee safety.  This role interacts regularly with Foremen, Field Superintendents, Project Managers, and customers to assist in any challenges related to site safety. Travel to jobsites is required. The Safety Director will report directly to the VP of Operations.

 

The successful candidate will have thorough knowledge of environmental, safety, DOT, and OSHA regulations and compliance. Strong leadership and team- building skills is essential. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required. Proficient skills with a computer and MS Office Suite a requirement.

Responsibilities

Leadership:

  • Leading, planning and implementing of work schedules, taking corrective decisions and assigning duties to the subordinates in regular basis.
  • Directing the Safety team by administering safety guidelines for implementation to ensure the best safety policies. 

Training:

  • Staying aware of the safety rules and regulations consisting of the federal, state and local level.
  • Maintaining a watch over the safety programs and ensuring that they offer requisite safety to the employees.
  • Developing, updating and managing workplace safety procedures, programs and policies.
  • Incorporating the techniques of industrial safety and employee training, which has been gained through years of practice, in order to improve their service quality.
  • Train employees on Corbins Electric policies and procedures
  • Updating the safety policies in order to make the organization safe and hazard free in nature.
  • Perform site specific training on job sites
  • Manage and maintain employee certification program
  • Create applicable tool box topics and review them with work force
  • Assist in training employees to recognize and control all hazards

Auditing:

  • Conducting different inspections and safety audits to ensure compliance with the environmental and OSHA requirements.
  • Ensure daily inspections of job site and work areas are conducted
  • Review pre task plans daily
  • Perform safety observations of job sites and work areas
  • Manage annual audits of safety equipment as required
  • Audit safety policies as required by OSHA and NFPA
  • Conduct noise level evaluations
  • Perform environmental audits as required 

Reporting:

  • Establishing and maintaining safety and training records.
  • Review incident and injury reports and provide Weekly Injured Employee Status Summary to Management
  • Notify management of any program deficiencies discovered during audits
  • Report all “near miss” situations
  • Notify management of any safety related recognitions
  • Track project level safety equipment

Qualifications:

  • Education: OSHA 500 construction trainer, CPR/AED First Aid Trainer.  A bachelor’s degree in safety engineering, safety management, occupational environment health, industrial health or related field is imperative. However, a master’s degree is preferred. Wide experience and knowledge of environmental health and safety is necessary in order to land a job as safety director.
  • Experience: 5-10 years of prior safety experience, electrical background, participation in root cause analysis, NFPA 70e
