Our Opportunity

The Product Development team at Larson-Juhl is seeking a Prduct Designer who can quickly become the “go to” person who understands the technical and factory aspects of design and testing.  This person should be highly motivated, creative, and detail-oriented with an ability to manage multiple projects at once and thrive in a fast-paced environment. They must be able to work as part of a team but also take creative direction and work independently to develop solutions to design challenges. Applicant will continuously evaluate alternate materials and technologies, ensuring continued market leadership of the Larson-Juhl brand.  Role is located in Norcross, GA.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Create product drawings, designs and sketches using a variety of media for internal and external communication and review.
  • Handle all project engineering processes from prototyping to production and manage new product timelines.
  • Use experience and technical expertise, to participate in the process of solving field and production problems that require design changes, material substitutions, etc.
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary product development activities, testing of prototypes and final designs to determine reliability and safety. Recommend any necessary changes and manage implementation of the changes with the Product Development Team, vendors and factories.
  • Communicate and resolve all product, quality and performance issues between factories, vendors, Supply Chain, Sourcing, Quality Control and Manufacturing. Follow up and monitor product management, engineering issues and provide technical support to vendors/factories.
  • Contribute to new product innovation and technical excellence.
  • Create package design and work in conjunction with product development, marketing and sales to develop innovative packaging for the global consumer goods mass market.

 

Key Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of relevant product design experience required.
  • Bachelor degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Design, Furniture Design or Architecture.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data to create a product story with actionable insights.
  • Expert knowledge in Auto-CAD and Solidworks required as well as ability to design and develop documents in 2D and 3D.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications. Advance level in Excel for reports and summary.
  • Knowledge of wood based products, materials and processes.
  • Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Previous product, packaging or designing for consumer goods required.
