The Engineer will work in a challenging, hands-on environment supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and other specialized customers in support of National Cyber Protection System (NCPS) initiatives. The candidate will be responsible for ordering, implementation, and repairing of the DHS sponsored solution. The Candidate must be able to communicate effectively with peers and customers. The job also requires hands on technical support of routers, switches, servers, and firewalls in a secure Data Center and office environment.
•Development of the solution approach and Solution addressing Cyber Security system architectures and integration with supporting operations support systems (OSS) and business support systems (BSS).
•The candidate will have demonstrated knowledge and experience in system architecture and engineering disciplines. Specific technical knowledge of enterprise level networking and network security.
•Analyzes, develops, recommends, implements and supports innovative, cost effective IPS/IDS protection systems
•Evaluates and recommends future technologies and methodologies that will enhance future capabilities
•Designs requirements-based technical solutions in support of Employer Cyber Security programs, projects, solutions and offerings, and assists with program start-up, transition and transformation of the solution or offering design into production.
•Maintains expert knowledge of technology and seeks opportunities to benefit Employer’s customers.
•Recommends optimized solutions to support current and long range planning and collaborates with project team leads in the selection, recommendation and approvals of tools and technologies to improve efficiencies, reduce costs and increase customer satisfaction.
•Conducts presentations to customers to educate or obtain approvals on design concepts and technology recommendations.
•Provides architectural and design support including customer briefings.
•Provide hands on Tier 3 support.
•Proven ability to work in a dynamic team environment with changing requirements and competing priorities
•Identify new network security technologies
•Develop and support security Research and Development concepts
•Assist in the formulation of new programs
•Assess proposed solutions in a system of systems environment to include impact on network and application layer efficiencies
•Assist in laboratory demonstrations and evaluations
•Evaluate emerging security products and implementations developed by outside vendors.
•Hands on Tier 3 support
• Experience with Linux (Redhat, CentOS) at the command line and familiar with server level
technology (Apache, JBoss, SQL)
• Troubleshooting server issues: systems, applications and connectivity
• Enterprise systems experience from the standpoint of knowing how to manage a large number of
servers: engineering, deployment, operations and maintenance.
• PXE, Kickstart, Automated system builds
• Thorough understanding with virtualization and virtual networking (VMware).
• Familiarity with IPTables and SELinux.
• Familiarity with troubleshooting LDAP, Kerberos, OpenSSL certs, system hardening.
• Experience with Shell scripting, Perl or Python experience.
• Experience with data center servers including blade servers.
• Experience with mass system configuration management.
• Experience with Remedy, Monitoring Tools (i.e. Solarwinds/Nagios/JIRA)
•A Bachelor’s Degree and/or Advanced degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science and experience, or a strong interest in, the cyber security field, with emphasis on Network Protection technologies and techniques
•3 -7 years experience
•Understanding of mobile networking in a military environment and the impact of integrating security solutions
•A proven track record in the communications, networking and/or security arenas
•Knowledge and experience should include computer network operations, network access and protection techniques and technologies, software coding, encryption and cross domain solutions
• Must be available for rotating on-call and work after hours as needed.
• Must be able to work a flexible work schedule
• Candidate must be a US Citizen and hold an active Department of Defense Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
