Adult Education Instructor (Saturday Only)

Position: Adult Education Instructor - SATURDAYS ONLY (Part-Time)

Salary: $22.50 per hour with no benefits available. This is a Saturday ONLY teaching position, with a schedule of 8:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Applications will continue to be accepted on a continuous basis, even when there are no vacancies. The primary task of an Adult Education Instructor at Chattahoochee Valley Community College is to instruct students in activities designed to promote the development of basic academic and employability skills. Instruction will be required in the areas of language, writing, science, social studies, and mathematics.

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to, the following:

1. Teach classes as assigned.
2. Organize, instruct, and supervise students in classroom settings as assigned.
3. Participate in selection of texts and teaching materials for Adult Education courses.
4. Develop individualized plans of instruction.
5. Remain current in professional knowledge and skills through professional development and continuing education.
6. Master software as needed in order to enhance instruction.
7. Recruit students for program and college at large.
8. Participate in the College's planning process.
9. Utilize instructional technology in the instructional process.
10. Maintain appropriate work hours as outlined in State and College policies.
11. Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the College.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Interviews will only be extended to applicants who meet the following minimum required qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university
• Directly related experience in teaching, tutoring or individualized, self-paced instruction, including experience teaching English, science, social studies, math, or business
• Effective oral and written communication skills; proficiency in the English language
• Competent use of the Microsoft Office suite

Preferred qualifications for this position:

• Successful experience in a multi-leveled classroom
• Experience in computer-based instruction
• Experience in basic skills and applied instruction

The Recruitment and Selection Committee will screen all applicants for the position and select applicants for interviews. Interviews may consist of the following activities: question/answer session and/or skills demonstration. Upon completion of the interviews, the Committee will recommend a finalist for the position to the appropriate dean and the President, after which final employment decisions will be made.
