City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide daily tutoring and mentoring to students in core subjects to reinforce classroom learning Support teachers with small-group instruction, homework help, and classroom activities Track and report student progress using established tools and metrics Build positive, mentoring relationships that foster students’ confidence and engagement Collaborate with school staff and City Year team members to plan interventions and enrichment Promote an inclusive, safe, and respectful classroom environment Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development Engage in family and community outreach activities as needed Subject-matter tutoring (Math/ELA) Academic intervention strategies Lesson reinforcement Progress monitoring/data entry Classroom management support Youth mentoring Small-group instruction Behavior de-escalation Basic educational technology (Google Workspace, LMS) Communication with teachers and families Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in education, youth development, or related field Experience working or volunteering with K–12 students preferred Background check and clearance to work in schools Commitment to a full-time AmeriCorps term of service Strong interest in education equity and social justice5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
