City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide in-class academic support in core subjects such as math and English Offer one-on-one and small-group tutoring and mentoring to students Collaborate with classroom teachers to reinforce lesson objectives Track and report on student progress and engagement Support students’ social-emotional learning and goal setting Facilitate or assist with enrichment and after-school activities Build positive, trusting relationships with students and school staff Participate in City Year training, coaching, and professional development Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive team culture focused on equity and social justice Communicate regularly with supervisors and school partners about student needs Tutoring in core academic subjects (e.g., math, English, reading) Classroom support and behavior management Lesson reinforcement and academic intervention strategies Student progress monitoring and basic data tracking Youth mentoring and relationship-building Communication and collaboration with teachers and staff Basic educational technology and online learning tools Time management and organizational skills in a school setting Cultural competence and working with diverse student populations Facilitation of group activities and enrichment programs City Year AmeriCorps eligibility requirements (e.g., age and work authorization) Background check clearance for working with youth Experience with tutoring or youth mentoring (preferred) Training in youth development or education (preferred)5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
