City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide in-class support and small-group tutoring in core subjects to assigned students Build positive, mentoring relationships that support students’ social-emotional growth Monitor and encourage student attendance, engagement, and homework completion Assist teachers with classroom activities and behavior support as part of the school team Plan and lead after-school or enrichment activities and school-wide events Use data and teacher feedback to track student progress and adjust support strategies Participate in regular City Year trainings, coaching sessions, and team meetings Promote an inclusive, respectful, and safe learning environment for all students Engage families and community partners in student-focused initiatives when appropriate Model City Year’s values and AmeriCorps commitment to service and social justice Small-group instruction Tutoring in core academic subjects (e.g., math, ELA) Classroom support and behavior management Student mentoring and relationship-building Data entry and basic progress monitoring Written and verbal communication Time management and organization Facilitation of group activities and workshops Basic computer literacy (e.g., email, documents, spreadsheets) Collaboration within diverse teams Medical Insurance Eligibility to serve in AmeriCorps (U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident) Ability to pass background and fingerprint checks required by AmeriCorps and school district Completion of City Year pre-service and ongoing training programs5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
