The individual will be a key member of a software engineering team sustaining biometrics program, which is finding increased use among intelligence data with law enforcement and immigration agencies. Responsible for compiling requirements from multiple teams, the candidate will interface with other team members to ensure requirements understanding to support development and testing tasks.
Close, careful, and scrupulous attention to detail under tight deadline constraints is essential. The ability to juggle multiple concurrent assignments and to shift priorities rapidly is also vital. The position requires that the candidate be able to work directly with customers, peers, software engineers, and other stakeholders. An engaged, proactive approach is expected. The candidate will be responsible for actively identifying and documenting not only the requirements but the discussions and processes by which the decisions were reached. This may include producing meeting agendas, being the scribe at project meetings and producing follow-up meeting minutes in addition to the actual requirements documents.
The candidate should be willing to offer suggestions and insights, and to act as an advocate for stakeholders who may not otherwise be represented. However, when given direct guidance and instruction by the customer or the project lead, the candidate must respect those decisions and reflect them in the requirements documents and supporting materials.
Main responsibilities will be facilitating requirements gathering sessions, developing supporting data requirements, developing PowerPoint presentations to support stakeholder meetings, and providing weekly status reports. Experience in executing software development projects as a part of a team is required. This position requires the candidate to take the lead in identifying, refining, organizing and documenting system requirements. Strong written and oral communications skills are a must. Candidate will identify, collect, assemble, and organize requirements in collaboration with the customer and the rest of the technical team. This may require use of multiple techniques, since there are many stakeholders and requirements will be used to drive the testing process.
External Referral Eligible Qualifications:
Candidate should be well-versed in IT and the software development lifecycle. Candidate should be familiar with relational database concepts. Candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing for process and systems documentation, and have worked directly with customers and end users.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or related scientific or technical discipline, and five (5) years of direct experience is required. Eight (8) years of direct relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
Successful candidates must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
·Demonstrated experience with full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) using both waterfall and agile methodologies
·Strong written and oral communication skills
·Demonstrated experience working with customer and stakeholders
·Must be proficient in MS Word and MS Power Point
Preferred candidates will have experience in developing requirements for biometrics applications
