Director of Technology Vendor Management - Business Process Services

In this role you lead the global BPS org within Technology Vendor Management, setting strategic direction and building capability across a high-volume environment. You will partner with Technology, HR, Global Supply Management, Product, Risk and Finance to drive continuous improvement and delivery of labeled outcomes. You'll champion operational excellence, guide automation initiatives, and influence product roadmaps through BPS priorities. This is a strategic leadership role with impact on risk, governance, and organizational development. You will shape the future of BPS at American Express by aligning people, processes and technology to business goals.

• Lead and develop a high-performing, accountable team and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Set and translate strategic direction for BPS to ensure capabilities and operating models meet business priorities.
• Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across functions to achieve shared outcomes.
• Drive operational excellence using data to simplify processes, improve performance, and identify automation opportunities.
• Act as strategic partner to Product, aligning BPS priorities with customer needs and roadmap effects.
• Provide risk and control leadership, ensuring governance and management of operational and compliance risk.
• Lead organizational change, including adoption of new processes, policies, or technologies like Fieldglass.
• Develop talent and leadership capability to meet evolving business needs.

• Bachelor's degree
• 8-12 years in technology infrastructure vendor management, contract management, sourcing, procurement, or third-party risk management
• 5+ years in leadership, building and developing diverse, high-performing teams
• Experience leading in a complex, matrixed organization
• Familiarity with vendor management systems such as SAP Fieldglass, Workday, Beeline, or Coupa
• Strong strategic leadership and ability to translate priorities into outcomes
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and build trusted relationships
• Experience driving operational excellence, transformation, and organizational change
• Strong risk and control mindset in regulated environments
