Admissions Department Position

Incumbent performs the essential functions of the Admissions Department, which can include pre-admission, financial counseling, insurance notification, verification and authorization, management of unscheduled admissions in either acute care or mental health admissions.

What It Takes To Be Successful

Required qualifications:

  • Must demonstrate general understanding of medical terminology
  • Extensive and demonstrated knowledge of government and commercial insurance plans
  • Experience with registration and/or billing computer software programs
  • Experience in a hospital or medical office setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of managed care plans
  • Demonstrated experience with referral authorization process
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize payer and government websites to access and interpret health plan benefit packages and make determinations

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with computer software programs such as EPIC or other registration programs
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Ability to ensure proper billing or financial procedures for patients
