Senior Research Business Director (Hybrid)

In this role you drive administrative leadership for Research Business Operations within a leading cancer and life sciences nonprofit. You steer finances, HR, marketing, philanthropy, and strategic planning to enable research teams to work efficiently and compliantly. You will lead mid- to senior-level staff, coordinate with central offices, and shape processes to support groundbreaking research. • Oversee financial management including budgeting, reporting, and variance analysis across RBO
• Lead pre- and post-award grant activity and collaboration with PIs and central offices
• Manage contract processes, including workflows, amendments, and guidance
• Oversee internal hiring, faculty recruitment, and HR coordination with area supervisors
• Provide guidance on departmental business activities, facilities needs, and space planning
• Coach and mentor managers and junior staff, handle workload review and performance feedback
• Build relationships with central departments and collaborators to improve communication and processes
• Lead and support long- and short-term planning, policy development, and efficiency analyses; represent RBO on committees

• Bachelor's degree (relevant fields) required
• 7-10 years of business management experience in academic research or healthcare
• 5 years of progressively responsible management experience
• Demonstrated supervision of mid-level staff, budget development, grant management, and space planning
