City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide daily academic tutoring in core subjects to assigned students Support teachers with classroom management and small-group instruction Mentor students to build social-emotional skills, confidence, and engagement Track, document, and report student progress using school and City Year tools Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and teammates to align student supports Assist with attendance initiatives, homework help, and after-school programming Model inclusive, culturally responsive practices in all student interactions Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development Communicate regularly with supervisors on student needs and program progress Support school-wide events and initiatives that promote student success Tutoring in core subjects (math, ELA) Lesson planning and academic support Classroom management support Student data tracking and progress monitoring Individual and small-group instruction Behavioral support and mentoring Basic educational technology (Google Workspace, LMS) Communication with teachers and school staff Cultural competency and equity-focused practices Documentation and reporting Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Bachelor’s degree preferred; H.S.
