We are Florida's premier residential construction law firm for homeowners. We handle construction disputes through all phases of pre-litigation and litigation in Florida state and Federal courts. We are growing very aggressively and seek an experienced Florida litigation paralegal (10+ years) to join our team. We need somebody who understands what happens at a trial or final arbitration hearing and has been there, so that they know what is required to succeed there and therefore know how to help build a case successfully. On the legal production side of our firm, we currently have 4 attorneys, two Paralegals, 1 Legal Assistant, a Legal Production Coordinator, and a Construction Project Analyst. Our office is located in Boca Raton, Florida; however, this job can be performed remotely. Experience with Florida Courts and knowledge of Florida legal procedure are required. Experience with Construction Law is a significant plus. How to Apply: Please submit your resume and a cover letter. The subject line of the cover letter should be your last name (all caps), followed by a hyphen and “Litigation Paralegal”. The body of your cover letter should include the following information: • What interests you about this position? • What makes advocating for homeowners in a construction dispute important to you? • What do you bring to the table (i.e., qualities that would be of value to the firm)? Please follow these basic yet important instructions, or you will not hear back from us. Thank you for considering this opportunity. If you qualify, we will contact you within 7 business days for the second round of consideration. Responsibilities: • Your primary job responsibility is to anticipate our attorneys' needs and to take as much work off their plates as you can handle so that they can focus on more substantive and valuable work. • You will ensure that our attorneys have all the relevant materials ready when they have depositions, hearings, or meetings. • You will analyze documents produced by clients and other parties to lawsuits for how they impact clients' claims on a substantive level, and you will record and organize your notes in a way that makes the attorneys' review more efficient. • We strive to be a systems-driven, technology-forward office. Therefore, you will also participate in the creation of systems and procedures for this role. By doing this, you'll contribute to the growth, efficiency, and success of the firm. But don't worry, we have operations professionals whose jobs are to help document policies and procedures. Qualifications: • Ten+ years of high-level litigation support and demonstrated success at a complex litigation, business litigation, or construction litigation law firm in Florida. • Significant experience supporting attorneys in preparing for hearings, depositions, trials, arbitrations, and mediations. • We place a high value on longevity and/or advancement at prior positions. This demonstrates stability, reliability, and competency, and that you can be a valuable team member for a long period of time. • You really need to be able to get along with your co-employees during times of stress. Litigation is not easy, and everyone here is doing their best to excel for clients. Therefore, we value someone who works cooperatively and professionally with others and does not seek to cast blame. From a skill-set perspective, you are awesome at: • Keeping your attorneys on track and relieving them of burdens that interfere with their best and highest work. • Creating order out of chaos. You LOVE organization, keeping track of key dates, and keeping the right people informed so that we never miss a deadline. • Solving problems proactively. We don’t need you just to find the problems. We really need someone who brings an idea for a solution to the table and then executes it. • Paying strong attention to detail • Technology.
