The United States Attorney's Office, Middle District of Florida (MDFL), is seeking an experienced attorney interested in working in our Appellate Division, Post-Conviction Section. The MDFL is headquartered in Tampa and has branch offices in Orlando, Jacksonville, Fort Myers and Ocala. This position can be filled in any of our 5 offices. The person hired for this position will represent the United States in a variety of post-conviction litigation, including addressing defendants' motions seeking relief from their convictions or sentences under 28 U.S.C. §§ 2241 and 2255 and 18 U.S.C. § 3582. The position will require some appearances in United States District Court and also may entail practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. Security Requirements: Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory preemployment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. In addition, continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation. Residency Requirements: Assistant United States Attorneys generally must reside in the district to which he or she is appointed or within 25 miles thereof.
