Position Summary

The Senior Corporate Communications Specialist is an important member of the (ISC)² communications team and serves as moderator for our online community of more than 24,000 users. This individual contributes to a wide array of strategic communications programs, including member communications, content strategy and social media. This individual regularly engages senior management, subject matter experts, regional teams, department heads, members and others throughout the organization to proactively identify opportunities to generate compelling and effective communications in support of a broad range of association goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

Online Community and Social Media

  • Serve as moderator for the (ISC)² online community
  • Enable the online community to grow and become an effective channel for members and prospects to engage one another and the association
  • Create content and strategies to increase positive, constructive engagement within the community
  • Manage community structure and organization
  • Identify and establish relationships with the most active community members (superusers)
  • Maintain comprehensive set of community guidelines and policies
  • Create rules for action when violations and other issues arise
  • Escalate hot topics to subject matter experts when appropriate
  • Plan for community activities to support business events (product launches, updates, trade shows, etc.)
  • Oversee introduction of new community tools and features
  • Analyze and report community metrics and developments regularly to internal and external stakeholders
  • Works closely with team members and key stakeholders to manage and strengthen the association's social media strategy
  • Serves as the global social media facilitator, including governance of accounts, vendors and reporting, as well as ensuring content tone and type meets expectations and standards


Corporate Communications

  • Create original and compelling copy for multiple communications channels, audiences and regions, including social media, our online community, web, print, events, video scripts, blogs, newsletters, white papers and magazine
  • Contribute to the (ISC)² style guide
  • Contribute to how the association is represented on the website, with a particular focus on the corporate "About", "Membership" and "Exam Policy and Procedure" sections
  • Contribute to global messaging and branding standards
  • Responsible for assisting HR with employee communications as needed
  • Assist with creation and management of association content calendar(s)
  • Assist with major events such as (ISC)² Security Congress by supporting the speaker program, social media and media relations activities


Member Communications

  • Work with various stakeholders and team members to contribute to an effective content strategy for members and prospects
  • Ensure communications to members (transactional, official and promotional) are on point and appropriate
  • Ensure communications for activities like board of directors elections are executed effectively

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience as a public relations and/or corporate communications professional either in-house or with an agency
  • BA or BS degree in journalism, marketing, communications or a related field required
  • Experienced public relations and corporate communications professional
  • Excellent writer and editor
  • Excellent proof reader with strong attention to detail
  • Experience managing online forums or communities preferred
  • Versatile writer who can adapt style and tone to a wide array of audiences and channels
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity practices and information technology preferred
  • Management experience preferred
