RESPONSIBILITIES I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the operational and administrative activities of the Hospitalist Program to ensure adequate Hospitalist coverage to deliver high quality patient centered care.
Fosters communication and teamwork between the Hospitalist Program and QMC’s staff by representing the program on committees and coordinating related efforts and information with the Hospitalist Program.
Provides oversight and mentoring of new Hospitalists to the program.
Works closely with the Medical Directors and Leadership Team to appropriately represent the Hospitalist Program in a unified and concerted manner regarding their part in accomplishing system mission and goals.
Supports the QUMG mission to be the preeminent academic medical group of the Pacific – leading the delivery of high quality, compassionate patient care and continually advancing education and research.
Supports The Queen’s Medical Center’s (QMC) vision and values to enhance the provision of quality health care and optimize the health status of our patients, and supports QMC’s Mission to fulfill the intent of Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV to provide in perpetuity quality health care services to improve the well‑being of Native Hawaiians and all of the people of Hawai`i.
Provides input to the creation of any service level agreements between QMC and QUMG regarding Hospitalist clinical services and drives Hospitalist Program performance to achieve quality and productivity goals as may be established within service level agreements and QHS system-wide organizational goals.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Constant: sitting, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.
Frequent: walking
Occasional: standing, stooping/bending, climbing stairs, lifting and carrying usual weight of 1 pound up to 5 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder lever, frequent gripping of an object.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
Exposure to hazardous chemicals and infectious agents is an occupational risk; therefore, standard safety regulations must be maintained to avoid contamination.
VI. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine or EC FMG certification.
Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Hawaii.
Current board certification in Internal Medicine.
B. EXPERIENCE:
During the period of employment, shall be and remain a member of the applicable QHS hospitals’ medical staff in good standing with appropriate privileges without restriction.
Qualified for an appointment to the faculty of the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine, preferred.
Five (5) years’ experience in Hospitalist Medicine.
Three (3) years of relevant administrative experience managing similar size program in multi-hospital facility preferred.
