Iowa Veterinary Specialties located in Des Moines, Iowa is hiring for an EmergencyVeterinary. IVS is owned by Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine and operational for over 40 years, providing 24-hour veterinary care.

• Day/swing: Full-time(13 shifts/month), part-time (7-11 shifts/month)
• Nightshift: Full-time(11 shifts/month), part-time (6-10 shifts/month)

Iowa Veterinary Specialty Hospital (IVS) is a fast-paced, AAHA-accredited, and progressive referral practice in Des Moines, Iowa. Owned by Iowa State University and operational for over 40 years, we provide 24-hour Emergency and Specialty veterinary care. Our dedicated team includes emergency veterinarians, boarded specialty surgeons, exotics professionals, and skilled veterinary technicians & assistants.

We are seeking an Overnight ER Veterinarian to join our fast-paced, progressive referral practice. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a well-established, supportive, and forward-thinking practice.

Position Overview:

As an ER Veterinarian, you will be responsible for providing emergency care for incoming patients and hospitalized patients including endoscopy and ER surgeries. You will have the chance to work with a variety of cases, including trauma, critical care, and specialty consultations. This position offers flexible scheduling with 12-hour shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality emergency care including trauma and critical care
• Work with Iowa State University Veterinary Student in a variety of programs
• Collaborate with our staff of veterinary technicians, board certified veterinarians, surgeons and specialists to ensure the best patient care.
• Use advanced diagnostic tools including a full-service in-house IDEXX lab, digital x-ray, and on-site 64-slice CT.
• Maintain accurate medical records and effectively communicate with clients about their pets' care.

Qualifications:

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree.
• Previous emergency or critical care experience of 2 years preferred, but all experience levels will be considered.
• Surgery and scope experience a plus
• A positive attitude, compassion, and a dedication to high-quality medicine.
• Must be comfortable working in an emergency setting with varied caseloads and a diverse range of procedures.
