City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide in-class support to teachers through tutoring, mentoring, and behavior reinforcement Lead small-group and one-on-one academic interventions in core subjects Build positive, consistent relationships with students to support social-emotional growth Track and report student progress, attendance, and engagement data Support classroom management and contribute to a safe, inclusive environment Assist with school-wide events, family nights, and extracurricular programs Collaborate with fellow AmeriCorps members, teachers, and school staff on service plans Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development sessions Promote a culture of equity, inclusion, and social justice within the school community Model professionalism, leadership, and a strong commitment to student success Tutoring and academic support Classroom management support Student mentoring and relationship-building Data tracking and basic progress monitoring Communication with students, staff, and families Team collaboration and problem-solving Time management and organization Basic conflict resolution and de-escalation Cultural competence and equity-focused practice Program and event support in school settings Eligibility for AmeriCorps service (U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident) Ability to pass background checks required for school-based service Commitment to a full service term (typically 10–11 months)5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
