City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide in-class and small-group academic support in subjects like math and English Support students’ social-emotional development and positive behavior Track student progress and document interventions Collaborate daily with teachers and school staff to align support with classroom goals Lead or assist with after-school and enrichment programs Encourage student attendance and engagement initiatives Communicate with families and caregivers as appropriate Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development sessions Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive team culture focused on equity and social justice Represent City Year and AmeriCorps within the school and local community Tutoring and academic support Classroom support techniques Youth mentorship Behavior management and de-escalation Data entry and progress monitoring Basic computer and office software (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft Office) Communication and active listening Team collaboration Time management and organization Cultural competency and equity-focused practice Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance Eligibility to serve in AmeriCorps (U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident) Ability to pass required background checks Commitment to a full-time 10–12 month service term Experience working or volunteering with youth (preferred)5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386 read more
