City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students’ academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you’ll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You’ll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide in-class and after-school academic support in core subjects such as math and English Lead small-group and one-on-one tutoring and interventions for students needing additional support Build positive, mentoring relationships with students to support social-emotional growth Support teachers with classroom management, routines, and instructional activities Monitor and track student attendance, engagement, and academic progress Assist with school-wide initiatives, events, and family engagement activities Collaborate with a diverse AmeriCorps team and school staff to meet student needs Participate in regular training, reflection, and professional development sessions Promote an inclusive, respectful school environment aligned with City Year’s values Tutoring and academic support (math and English) Youth mentoring and relationship-building Classroom support and basic classroom management Data entry and basic progress monitoring Communication (written and verbal) Teamwork and collaboration in diverse groups Time management and reliability in a structured schedule Conflict de-escalation and positive behavior support Cultural competence and working with diverse communities Basic computer skills (e.g., Google Suite, email, spreadsheets) Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Eligible to serve in AmeriCorps (U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident) Ability to pass background check required for school-based service Experience working or volunteering with youth preferred5c143e31-5e48-4549-b638-05792d185386
