Medical Laboratory Technician

Job description:

We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join our dynamic healthcare team. The MLT will be responsible for performing a wide range of laboratory tests and procedures to support patient diagnosis, treatment, and research activities. This role requires a strong foundation in laboratory techniques, specimen processing, and data management, ensuring accurate and timely results. The ideal candidate will possess excellent technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of laboratory safety and quality.

Job Description:

Title: Medical Lab Tech

Location: Baton Rouge, LA

Contract: 13 weeks

Shift: 4x10 hrs Nights

Pay Range: $1750 - $1925 weekly gross DOE

Key Responsibilities:

• Collect, process, and analyze biological specimens such as blood, urine, and tissue samples with precision and adherence to aseptic techniques
• Perform laboratory assays including ELISA, PCR, flow cytometry, immunoassays, and other diagnostic tests
• Manage laboratory data accurately using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and ensure proper documentation
• Conduct RNA extraction, DNA isolation, and blood banking procedures following established protocols
• Maintain laboratory equipment, perform routine calibration, and troubleshoot technical issues promptly
• Support clinical trials by preparing specimens and recording detailed results for research purposes
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety regulations, and medical terminology standards
• Assist in specimen collection through venipuncture and phlebotomy while ensuring patient comfort
• Monitor vital signs when necessary during sample collection or patient interaction
• Contribute to laboratory management tasks including inventory control, quality assurance, and record keeping

Requirements

• Experience:
• Minimum 3 years required
• Travel experience required
• Previous charge experience: Preferred
• License/Certification:
• Must have LA license or CLS
