Business Applications Specialist

In this role you will support and optimize the systems used for Harvard's housing and real estate operations. You'll work with the Systems team to ensure reliable property management software, data integrity, and efficient processes that enhance the tenant experience. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners to implement improvements and manage system integrations. This is a hands-on IT-focused position in a mission-driven, Ivy League environment with opportunities to lead small projects and drive meaningful change.

• Administer and support daily property management systems, including upgrades and maintenance
• Serve as level-2 technical contact, troubleshoot issues, and escalate where needed
• Manage system configurations, user access, and security settings
• Analyze leasing, maintenance, accounting, and tenant services workflows to identify efficiency gains
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements and implement best practices
• Oversee integrations with third-party tools and ensure data accuracy across systems
• Develop reports, dashboards, and data extracts for insights
• Lead small projects and assist with larger system implementations or migrations
• Create and maintain user guides, SOPs, and training materials; conduct training
• Manage vendor and stakeholder relationships to align systems with business needs
• Travel to properties as needed and handle occasional hardware moves or testing

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field
• 5+ years of experience supporting business applications, preferably in property management or real estate
• Hands-on experience with property management software (Yardi, MRI, RealPage OneSite, Entrata, AppFolio)
• Experience with project management and deliverables within established frameworks
• Experience with system integrations (APIs, middleware)
• Knowledge of data governance and accounting principles related to property management
• Experience with reporting tools (SQL, Power BI, Excel advanced)
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and balance priorities
• Team-oriented with a service mindset
• Experience with testing and user acceptance testing
